Jane Sauer, owner of Jane Sauer Gallery, is very proud to announce gallery participation in the invitational 2008 Beijing Art Salon, sponsored by the Beijing Municipal People’s Government and the Beijing Municipal Commission Publicity Department. The Art Salon is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of China’s “reform and opening up policy” and to build a relationship between galleries and collectors. The Salon hopes to introduce new artworks both from China and abroad to each other. During the salon, there will be a series of academic symposium and a special exhibit to promote communication between countries through the art and artists of each.
Like the industrial market in China, the art market is realizing rapid development with new galleries and art centers sprouting up in Beijing and other major centers in China. Besides Chinese galleries, many foreign art galleries are opening large and commanding spaces in Beijing. The booming art market in China has been the subject of recent articles in numerous American art magazines, most recently the October, 2008 issue of ARTNEWS. 
The 2008 Beijing Art Salon will host over 74 galleries from 13 countries. Participating galleries had to be a professional art gallery with a permanent operational site, showing artworks of represented artists as its main business. The invitation was extended by the Appraisal Committee of the 2008 Beijing Art Salon. The Jane Sauer Gallery will be the only participant from the United States. Others are coming from France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands, Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain, Australia, Germany, and South Korea, to name a few. Many dignitaries from the Industrial and Commerce Department of China, the Ministry of Culture, the National Palace Museum, the National Committee and the China National Academy of Painting will be present for the Opening Ceremony.
There will also be noted artists represented at the Salon, for example Susan Norrie, who represented Australia at the Venice Biennale 2007, Florence Roqueplo from France, and Chu The-chun, Zao Wou-ki, and Walasse Ting from Taiwan.
