Sheffer’s elegant ceramic work describes the investigation of her Middle Eastern and Jewish heritage.  Through her love of landscape, architecture and languages she designs these beautiful forms.  Avital often transcribes ancient documents from her native cultures to add an element of history to her work and to describe how narratives can transcend progress and time.   Her work is raw and delicately refined.  The intricacy of her painting combined with the rough surface of the clay depicts the duality that exists in the ancient cultures she studies.  These vessels are stunning examples of the ceramic medium.
