KAY KHAN

"As the ancient Greek ceramicist made vessels that held the seeds of the Western painting tradition, Khan grafts the arts of picture-making and poetry back onto the horizontal bands of utilitarian vase forms. She succinctly collapses the distinction between a vessel's physical ability to contain, and the pictorial or verbal signifier's metaphorical capacity to hold meaning . . . In a general sense, the implication is that perhaps we left something vital behind when we sought to separate art from craft."

-Jon Carver, THE Magazine

Kay Khan's stitched narratives are constructed into elegant quilted vessel forms that have become known as some of the most innovative sculpture of today.
