Sue Benner expertly combines a myriad of techniques to build her fabric constructions. She dyes, paints, stitches and fuses fabric to build these intricately layered quilts. While pursuing a degree in Molecular Biology and a master’s in Biomedical Illustration, Sue developed a fascination with the forms found in the microscopic world. Each piece is a representation of the balance between order and chaos that exists in nature. Benner’s painterly use of fabric and bright colors has been celebrated for more than 25 years. As an award winning artist and respected educator, Sue has built a thriving career in the world of Art Quilts. Quilt National and the Japanese exhibition Quilt Nihon have exhibited her work for more than ten years. She has lectured and given workshops all over the world educating fellow artists on her innovative quilting techniques.
